Solar Water Pumps

A solar water pump is, for many, a more reasonable source of energy for pumping wells than windmills are. Both windmills and solar powered pumps are certainly useful in remote areas that are not tied to the grid. However, solar power is generally both less expensive than its wind-powered counterpart, as well as easier to install. Very little maintenance is required to manage a solar pump. They work well in areas with little wind. In addition to that, they work best when it is sunny out. This beneficial because it is also likely the time when they are most needed. For people who often acquire their well water at night or on overcast days, a battery back-up will be a necessity. Another excellent option is to purchase a pump with a hand-power back-up option. There are a variety of solar pumps available. Small models are ideal for backyard ponds and fountains. They can be used to create attractive waterfalls or to provide practical aeration of a pond. Different solar pumps will have different lifts. The lift is the amount of water that goes into the air. Each type of solar pump will also have different flow rates. This ensures that there are a variety of pumps available to provide for a variety of needs.

Solar water pumps have been proven to be one of the best water pumping options in the world. Solar power allows water to be pumped without causing any damage to the environment, loosing water, or using excess water. Several of these systems are mainly used to provide water in areas that may not have received any other wise. An example is how solar water pumps are used to provide drinking water to those in India. Several manufacturers specialize in providing rural or desolate areas like India with sustainable solutions for drinking water. Some can even pump 140,000 liters of water or more! In general, solar pumps are a basic system that uses a pump being power by another device other than generic electricity such as solar solutions. Solar pumps consist of 4 main components: the actual pump, the controller, the engine, and the energy source that is being powered by the sun.

The pump itself actually uses pressure to move the fluid to where it needs to go, such as troughs, ponds, etc. The controller is what ensures that no water is wasted. Controllers adjust the speed and output of the waters flow from the information it receives from the solar panels. The engine, often an electric motor is what keeps this all going. And lastly, the power source, or solar panels; the solar panels uses photovoltaic cells to produce energy to power the controller and the engine. All of these elements put together are what solar pumps are made of. Making affordable water available to every one no matter what their location.

Though every solar pump has the same basic components that allow it to run, there are two different types that are used for different applications. The first kind is an AC solar pump. AC solar pumps require an inverter to be set up and run properly. The DC solar pump however, converts DC solar array energy to AC, which then drives the pumps water (as determined by the controller, of course!) in the correct manner. Solar water fountains are a common use for residential water solutions. Several consumers have even set up their own solar pumps at home without the assistant of the manufacturers or vendors instillation technicians. This is often a cheaper or easier often on small applications like water fountains. Solar water pumps are a great option for those who want to preserve power in little ways at home and big ways nationally.
