In
Ohio, solar installers are providing more and more affordable renewable
energy options thanks to many grants available on the state level. Tax
exemptions and utility rebates are a couple other examples of the financial
incentives possible. Many of these may be applied to either photovoltaic
panels or solar thermal collectors.
To achieve photovoltaic power in Ohio, solar installers utilize silicon
panels. As the sunlight hits these panels, electrons are knocked lose,
creating electricity. This electricity may be used to power the home
or it may simply be run back to the utility grid.
Solar thermal energy options are also available in Ohio. Solar installers
utilize collectors for this technology, rather than PV panels. The collectors
work with heat created by the sun, rather than generating electricity.
