Solar Power 2006 Setting New Attendance Records; $100 Registration Discount Ends

2006 expo, regularly plays host to some of the largest technology shows
in the US. Presented by the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), Solar Power 2006 will focus on new and innovative developments in the industry. Conference organizers expect more than 4,000 attendees representing the solar industry, customers, business partners, and policymakers from throughout the US and around the world. The conference will take place from October 16-19th in San Jose, California. "This conference will be the largest solar event in US history," said Julia Judd, SEPA executive director. "Riding on the wave of strong industry growth trends, conference pre-registration numbers are surging and we are seeing strong participation from players outside of the traditional 'solar chain' - i.e. utilities, raw material suppliers, financiers, homebuilders, start-ups, and large end-users. Solar Power 2006 will be a launching pad for innovation and formation of new business partnerships." Registration fees for the conference will increase after September 1. Solar Power 2006 already has 7 times the number of registrants as compared to the same time before last year's show. 45 percent of this year's pre-registered attendees are considered to be outside the traditional "solar chain" of manufacturers, distributors, and installers. Meanwhile, the exhibit space at Solar Power 2006 will feature 167 exhibitors (as compared to 66 in 2005), including a broad mix of solar technologies, business models, and global companies. The exhibit space itself encompasses 50,000 feet, more than a threefold increase over 2005. The conference will also offer manufacturer training sessions on solar products. "The US market, anchored by the California Solar Initiative and other state programs, is poised for a decade of robust growth," said Rhone Resch, SEIA president. "Solar Power 2006 will bring together the visionaries, innovators, and capital sources needed to make this growth a reality. We look forward to a special week in San Jose." The conference program features the following keynote speakers: Michael Peevey, president of the California Public Utilities Commission and architect of the California Solar Initiative; Vinod Khosla, founder of Sun Microsystems and clean tech investor; Celeste Migliore, manager of Toyota Motor Corporation's hybrid division; and (invited) California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who on Monday signed the $3.35 billion Million Solar Roofs Bill into law. Special events will include a networking reception at the Tech Museum of Innovation, which features hands-on and interactive exhibits including "Green by Design". The conference will also host a "Celebrating Solar Innovation" wine and food pairing reception, featuring wines from vineyards that have installed solar photovoltaics on their facilities, as well as a tour of local solar installations.
